Thank you!

Thank you for that very nice video essay. ^_^

I think that even in the United States groups formed by people with similar personalities, who are in similar classes (especially grade-level), and people who participate in similar clubs/activities are commonplace.

I hung out with friends who were in theater and met new people because of my associations with that group. When it came to clubs, it was very easy for interested individuals to join in, despite their background/history.

You are awesome! ^^

As for your questions... It IS easier to make friends with people who have similar interests with you. But there are times when you are not accepted because you are not considered genuine. Anyway, you become closer to people when the friendships are based on interests and hobbies, like you described in your video. ^^But there are a lot of kids who are much more superficial, so they base friendships on how everyone looks.

Luckily everyone is much more mature in college ^^

But, like Japan, Americans also form friendships based on similar interests and hobbies. Much like Japanese forming groups based on clubs and activities. I think that people who are into the same types of things will naturally group together.

For my opinion on groups, I think that not everyone is limited to just one group, but when people join groups, most of the time people join groups because of interest. Having something in common with someone will allow people to connect with each other easier. It is hard to go out on a limb to connect with others, but you never know how many more friends you can make unless you try. ^^
